Harmon Hill Farm has been selected by Lori Jones to carry her prior introductions. Lori will continue to release her first and second year introductions but we will grow and sell her past releases. Lori has become known for her large reds but as you will see here she does much more than that. Lori has established an amazing hybridizing program on a small lot where space is at a premium and now that her past releases have moved to New Hampshire, she will have some much needed seedling space. She still has some of her past releases available for continued breeding and for bonus plants. While we have grown several of Lori's plants before, we are excited to have so many more to display and offer to our customers.
If you are interested in purchasing any of the cultivars below or have any questions, please email your request to either the hybridizer Lori-Ann Jones at knollcottage@yahoo.com or Carl Harmon at harmonhill25@comcast.net

WHIP CITY VICKANATOR WHIP CITY VICKANATOR (2013)
42" M 9" DOR TET, Unusual form, 3 branches ( 1 lateral plus a Y) with a 15 BC. Pod and pollen fertile. A beautiful pale lavender color with a very large yellow to green throat.
This seedling on its first bloom looked like it was going to take a bite out of you if given half a chance. By the following year, it showed me that it had bad hair days where it pinched on the sepals in reverse (not from a thin sepal). The petals cascaded and twist and on a good hair day, it just cascades beautifully. In my opinion, when you purchase this daylily, you are getting 2 for the price of 1 depending on what kind of a hair day it is having. Seedling # 06-304 ( Whip City Coochie Coochie Coo '11 X Orchid Waterfall)

When this daylily first bloomed, it caught my eye because it just bloomed for such a long time. It is hard to capture the color on camera because it depends on how the light is hitting it. The second image was taken in full sun and as you can see, Whip City Zippadie just glows and it can really pinch up a storm. Ah, to be young again and learning how to apply makeup, 'You're putting way too much lipstick on.' 'Do you want to look like a brazen hussy?' Well, this daylily knows how to overdo it with a hot bright orange red color with a yellow to green throat. She flaunts her color shamelessly and proudly making her a bright addition to any garden. This intro has shown pinching, twisting and curling from time to time. Big hit on the NEDS garden tour! 4 branches (2 lateral plus a Y ) with a budcount of 28. Pollen fertile. Hardy Zone 5. $15

BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES (2011) 36" EM 8" Dor Tet Fragrant (Seedling # 98-47 (RED SUSPENDERS x SPIDER MAN) X LONG STOCKINGS)
BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES is a luscious light orange red daylily with a yellow to green throat. What I like best about this daylily is the color, the slight ruffling on the petals and sepals and the size of the flower. This makes this daylily very visible and showy even at a distance. BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES holds it's color well, though the color is not as intense a saturation by the end of the day as with many daylilies, but it will not disappoint you. 3-way branching (1 lateral plus a Y) with a budcount of 13. Pollen fertile. BIG HONKING FRENCH KISSES has set pod on it's own, but has not set for me. Hardy Zone 5. $15

Look at the kids and you will see what I am talking about. This intro is a sultry red self with light ruffling on the petals enhanced by a yellow to green throat. Bea Thibeault was at my home for the NEDS Western MA Garden Tour and stayed with me thru the HADS Regional, so she was able to see my seedling for more than just a day. Bea is a sweetheart and a good friend who has picked this seedling along with many others she felt were outstanding and that she would like in her garden. Bea is also the person who choose BIG HONKING FLAMING FLOOZY '08 for her Birthday present in 2006, so you know she has a good eye and can pick a winner. The name WHIP CITY SWEET HONEY BEA was chosen because her husband, Don, wanted this daylily called Sweet Bea and her best friend, Judy Avery, wanted it called Honey Bea and Bea wanted to be surprised. Hope everyone is happy! 5-way branching (2 lateral plus a W) with a budcount of 21. The pistel does not appear in all blooms and I have not been able to set pod on this daylily. Pollen fertile. BIG HONKING CARL
BIG HONKING CARL (2010) 37" ML 7" Dor Tet Bicolor (Seedling X RED SUSPENDERS)
BIG HONKING CARL is appealing in a number of ways. For one it is a bi-color showing a lovely overlay of rose to raspberry purple over the base red colored petals and a lighter color on the sepals. Secondly the petals have lovely soft ruffling with a pale golden yellow pencil line. Carl Harmon, owner of Harmon Hill Farm, liked this daylily when it bloomed for him in his garden after the 2008 Regional. The scapes were only a foot or so high for the Regional. (Dummy me forgot to check when it should bloom). For many reasons and with his permission, we have named it after him. What can I say, "Carl and BIG HONKING CARL are just lovable". 3 branches (1 lateral plus a Y) with a budcount of 12. Pod and pollen fertile. Hardy Zone 5. $20
BIG HONKING HEART THROB BIG HONKING HEART THROB (2010) 32" M to ML 6.5" SEV Tet (Seedling ( VELVET WIDOW x Seedling) X Mason Seedling)
BIG HONKING HEART THROB has been an attention getter right from the beginning. The color is a lovely orange red with a red eye enhanced by a yellow to green throat. I will not be registering it as an Instant rebloom only because it did it for me once in 2008. If you are a daylily enthusiast, and you like the color orange-red because it pops, then BIG HONKING HEART THROB is for your garden. 3 branches (1 lateral plus a Y) with a budcount of 10-14. WHIP CITY OOPSIE (2010) 41" EM 7" Dor Tet UFO Crispate Pinched(CHICAGO STAR X RED SUSPENDERS)
Gold self. WHIP CITY OOPSIE is a superb parent passing on branching and budcount on more than one occasion. An example of this trait is WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE '09 loaded with buds and great branching. On this intro, WHIP CITY OOPSIE, we seemed to have placed the cart before the horse so to speak, (registering the offspring first) but the only reason it was not introduced sooner is because I was remiss in acquiring pertinent information to register OOPSIE, hence the name. The intense golden color with just a hint of a green throat makes WHIP CITY OOPSIE very alluring and making it a true show off with flair. 3 branches (1 lateral + Y). Pod and Pollen fertile. WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE (2009) 35" EM 8.5" DOR TET Unusual Form, CRISPATE - Twisting with some pinching and curling, 2 to 3 way branching plus a Y with a 24 + BC. Pod and pollen fertile.
WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE won the AHS Best Seedling Award at Tower Hill in MA in 2007. One of the first things that the Exhibition Judges look when judging a seedling is that it has to be different than anything they have seen. If it passes this first test, then they continue to evaluate the seedling on merit and grooming. I was so pleased when seedling # 03-392 won the AHS Best Seedling Award at the AHS Exhibition. WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE is a very striking golden yellow daylily with a green throat and no fragrance. To have WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE blooming in a clump is truly marvelous. Seedling # 03-392 ( # 99-71 (Chicago Star x Red Suspenders) X Whip City Willie B) '09 $15
